At an estimated additional cost of USD 7 billion per year, failing patient self-care is a key cost driver in the Swiss and healthcare system.
Akina was founded in 2021 by two former members of the SMS Lab, Florian Haufe (CEO) and Michele Xiloyannis (CTO), after years of research in the areas of rehabilitation technology and robotics.
The Akina team closely works with the SMS Lab, sharing expertise on movement science, AI, software development and rehabilitation technology.
