Alexander Breuss

Alexander Breuss received his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and his Master’s degree in Robotics, Systems and Control from ETH Zurich in 2018 and 2020 respectively. During his studies he focused on the kinematics and dynamics of rescue, medical and rehabilitation robots and the human-robot interaction thereof. In 2017 he completed his Bachelor’s thesis at the SMS lab where he developed an algorithm that detects who is snoring in a multi-bed setup. Together with his colleagues he was awarded the International Research Award for Primary Snoring for outstanding scientific achievements in the field of habitual snoring. For his Master’s thesis he developed an autonomous drone that allows to localize avalanche victims.

Alexander joined the SMS Lab as a PhD student in April 2020. He is working on bringing a compact version of the Somnomat rocking bed into people’s homes to investigate possible benefits of vestibular stimulation during sleep.
